Tom Leavy

Head of Engineering

Tom Leavy has been with Wickr since it’s founding as a lead engineer and co-author of Wickr’s secure messaging protocol library and white paper. He has been actively involved as a platform architect, helping design and develop the security model behind many of Wickr’s features and holds several patents related to Wickr’s underlying technology. He has held many roles within the company as it has evolved ranging from being a lead developer on the original Wickr Messenger for iOS, core technology services lead for Wickr Messenger on Android, project lead for the open source Wickr cryptography library on GitHub, and most recently VP of Engineering. As an engineering leader, Tom’s responsibilities include managing the engineering process to ensure quality and security, helping design and architect new front-end and back-end features, and evolving Wickr’s messaging protocols and open source cryptography library.

Tom graduated from NJIT with a B.S in Information Technology with a focus on Network Security. He is also a certified scrum master and advocate of agile methodologies within Wickr.
